Angelides: "So I'm Running For Governor"

Basking in yesterday's massacre of Arnold's Special Election, Phil Angelides has released a "So I’m running for Governor" statement.

Most of his statement is a mean and nasty diatribe about how mean and nasty Governor Schwarzenegger is. Somehow I get the feeling Angelides' campaign will be just filled with such irony and hypocrisy.

What does an Angelides governorship hold in store?:

[Californians are] ready for a new way, so we can lift up our state – lead with our highest aspirations – and summon our enduring greatness once again.

Translation: "I promise to take us back to the glory days of Gray Davis."

Swell. Just the kind of enduring greatness California needs summoned once again.

Here’s the takeaway quote:

I won’t pretend we can renew opportunity on the cheap - I’ll challenge Californians to make sure the money’s there so we can meet the highest standards, and have the best schools, the best teachers in America.

Translation: "I'm going to tax Californians down to their chones to pay for the 1,001 social experiments we're cooking up for them in Sacramento."

At least California has been warned about the fell consequences of an Angelides governorship, albeit couched in the most euphemistic terms possible.

Hah! Hah! The conservative saviour of California is going up in flames and his cheerleaders go back to reliving the fun-filled past.

Enjoy!

LOL!

As a former resident of the south side of Sacramento, I remember Phil best for turning the Laguna Creek area into Los Angelides. Which, on the one hand, helped Elk Grove finally become an incorporated city, but on the other hand Elk Grove itself can't exercise much influence over the city's affairs thanks to all that explosive growth.

I'm thinking Phil's emergence as a mjor Democrat politician may help explain why many of Sacramento's fastest-growing suburbs are taking on a redder hue these days.

The conservative saviour of California...

Uh, Otto? Who -- other than Democrats -- has ever seriously considered Schwarzenegger "conservative"?

If anything tells us where California Democrats are coming from, it's that.

None of the candidates for California Governor in 2006 have clear, detailed plans for solving California's issues. All of the candidates are vague when it comes to solutions and none of them offer long range planning. I am the only candidate that offers solutions and long range planning for all Californians. My name is George Fellows and I am a true independent cadidate for California Governor in 2006. Visit my web site at www.georgeforgovernor.com
