More daily nonsense from Hugh Hewitt

Hugh "B+" Hewitt asks: "Now, can someone point me to a practicing, private sector lawyer --not professor, not government lawyer-- who is blogging against Miers? I am sure they are out there, but I haven't found them."

I admit that I only practice part-time, but if that counts then put me at the head of the list. Maybe I need to bash Hewitt even more regularly to get him to notice me. But that wouldn't be fun - it's just too easy.

Hewitt posts e-mails from people who claim they will leave the Republican party if she isn't confirmed to the bench. He uses this to suggest that opposing Miers is politically dangerous. Well Hugh, did you ever consider who many more of us will refuse to vote Republican if she is confirmed?

Here is another question that I put to you directly Mr. Hewitt: Knowing what you know now about the reaction to the Miers nomination, if you could go back in time before President Bush announnced his pick, and had a private meeting with the President where he asked you your thoughts as to who he should pick, what would you say to him (and why)? Would you suggest that he consider the "B+" picks??...

The ironic part is that both Bush and Miers might still be able to save their reputations after this fight is over. I doubt that Hugh Hewitt will be able to. Sad....
