BUSH'S BLUNDER?

I still have much larger doubts about Kerry on the key issue, and I am appreciative of the profound international pressures on Bush whenever he takes any military action whatsoever, but I still must admit an acute sense of disappointment by the allegations printed in today's Wall St. Journal article.

I am beginning to wish that Bush had a primary challenger from the right that would have forced him to be even more hawkish on the war against the terror masters.

Am I the only one who has thought this? (I guess it wouldn't be the first time...)

The only thing worse than reading this story would be

to have to listen to John Kerry tell a whopper by suggesting that he would have taken action against Zarqawi in Iraq if he were in the White House.

I'd have preferred one from the right who would actually make Bush a conservative on domestic issues for once.

See my comments in the previous post; that "competitor" could be Americans giving Kerry a clear victory.

I don't want him to be "more hawkish" in the sense that many people would say that. I don't need to see more things blow up. I would like him to be more effective. That doesn't necessarily mean blowing even more things up.

As for the Zarqawi story, I'm going to slightly defend not attacking his camp. According to something I read but haven't confirmed, his camp was 75km south of the no-fly zone. So, perhaps striking his camp would have been a declaration of war against Iraq rather than - yes - internationally legal. That said, that doesn't mean that - if it's true and legally correct - that's the reason that Bush didn't attack the camp. He might have avoided attacking the camp because it was convenient to have a terrorist presence in the country he wanted to invade. Apropos of the comments in the previous post, that would be another scandal if some insider comes out with, for instance, that in a book.

I think they've been holding back until after the election, which is no way to run a war. Will be interesting to see what happens after he's reelected.
