Too important to ignore...too frightening to forget.

If Mineta and the Dept of Trans are not more serious about protecting American citizens from terror events, Americans are going to have to get more serious about protecting themselves.
But what is the implication of such a story other than the level of complacency within the public is almost as dangerous as the terrorist threat itself?
It's the law enforcement is simply not enough to counter the threat.
This story is a microcosm of the inadequecies of even our post 9-11 system.
I posted on law enforcement not being sufficient

Thanks to Norman Minetta, who was stupid enough to equate such racial profiling with the internment of his Japanese ancestors during WWII, we can't use the same techniques that have ensured continuous success for El Al. It has also been pointed out that the policy of confiscating nail clippers, etc. is a piss-poor attempt at security. A sharpened credit card can be used to slit someones throat. We need to wake up and realize that racial profiling in air travel does NOT preclude a racist policy.
