Reagan has passed, and time will remember his a probably the third greatest presidency, it is only a matter of time before he passes Roosevelt, if you don't believe me, go here and remember how he made you feel in 1984. President Reagan, rest in peace.

1- Washington
2- Reagan
3- Lincoln
4- Coolidge
I don't know about RWV's list, but I do know that if they ever add to Rushmore, Reagan and FDR are the 20th Century's obvious candidates.

We had to spend 45 years cleaning up the Communist mess FDR left for us after he croaked... and we're still suffering the effects of his Communist New Deal program...
Also, if FDR showed some more leadership like W. has with the War on Terror, we would have gone to war BEFORE Pearl Harbor and prevented much of the carnage that was unleashed.
Posted by: Right-Wing Vegetarian at June 6, 2004 01:26 PM (Permalink)Before you get too carried away, Joel, you might want to ask a few old timers how FDR made them feel in 1936.
Vegetarian: please, at least read some history. Whatever else you care to say about FDR, no one denies that he did more to prepare us for WWII than any of his contemporaries. He was brilliant in the way he started an arms buildup, began the draft, helped Britain, and just generally got the country ready for war in the face of enormous opposition. It is absolutely amazing that he was able to do what he did.
And don't make me remind you who led the "enormous opposition," either....
Posted by: Kevin Drum at June 6, 2004 03:45 PM (Permalink)I have to agree with Kevin here. I don't know how FDR could have gotten us in any more quickly. In fact, that's the main reason there's speculation that he knew about and didn't stop Pearl Harbor (speculation I don't believe for a moment) -- he couldn't get enough support for the war without Pearl Harbor.
W. couldn't have shown the leadership in the war on terror without 9/11. He could have done more than previous administrations and maybe accomplished as much eventually but without an attack on US soil, most of America doesn't support war.

Are you the same Kevin Drum who claimed that Bush did time in a military prison in Colorado?

You mean liberal scumbags like Ezra Pound, Errol Flyn, etc.
Or fascist loving liberals like Joe Kennedy Sr?
