It's semi-serious because we're not going to really do this but I am interested in the responses. It's a conversation that comes up periodically.
Suppose you were in your mid-40's with a couple of kids. Not enough money to retire on but enough money to pick up and start over and live on until you get re-established. You've decided to start over. What would you do?
Posted by Justene Adamec at April 30, 2004 07:16 AM | TrackBackI'd start a car dealership. Used cars, wIth service. I'd only sell cars I liked. I'd only sell cars for fair prices - both parties happy about the deal. I wouldn't play price games or service games or any of the other tricks of the business. It would be a labor of love.
I'd probably lose my shirt.

- Set up our own publishing company specializing in brainy art books and high-end kid lit
- Buy that schooner and sail the seven seas
- Pick up and move to London just to see if we could pull it off
- Go back to school for a Master's in multimedia
- Launch a magazine
I'm trying to get into that situation (minus the kids) and what I hope to do is buy an inn or a lodge.

Posted by: McGehee at April 30, 2004 09:37 PM (Permalink)I would teach high school history in the Sierra foothills and write my damned novel.
Posted by: Andrew at May 2, 2004 02:32 PM (Permalink)I would up and move in a heart beat. That's the plan as soon as I finish my masters.
