Infotel afternoon update

The law firm that served this motion, McConomy Liverman, does not appear to have a web presence.

I found some Quebec law, including this case, which suggests that there's no jurisdiction over me just for having a Website. I still don't know what statute we're proceeding under but I have paying clients to handle also.

I've sent opposing counsel a letter. We'll see where it goes.

Does Canadian law work on a common law too? (Would stand to reason but I always figured it was civil law system...)

A most interesting question. 49 US states on are common law based on the english system. Louisiana is a civil law state, based on the french system.

In Canada, it is similar. All but one province is on common law based on the english system. Quebec is a civil law jurisdiction, based on the french system.
