The Target Exception

I've started using my passport as id. Never mind what I've said before. The real reason is that it's easier to locate my passport in my far too roomy purse.

Christmas shopping at Target, I presented my passport. The clerk informed me that Target doesn't accept passports. She needed to see my driver's license.

The Target woman obviously didn't know that a Passport is the Ultimate form of ID.

That's a hoot.

I'll bet that Target accepts the Matricula Cousular card as valid ID.

I use my passport for just about everything as well. The woman at Target likely didn't feel confident that she'd be able to recognize a valid passport so she used the lame excuse for not accepting it...maybe?

It's probably a policy, not the individual checker's idea. They only want to accept US ID's and saying no FOREIGN passports would be un-PC. Or too confusing to the checkers.

Or maybe they're just stupid.

Seems odd they wouldn't accept passports - but perhaps they decided to only train the checkers to accept state ids because they're simpler.

I always liked seeing passports and foreign IDs as a checker. It was often the highlight of my day to see how many people from where would be in during a day.

Still say your previous reason was bupkis, though.

I'm pretty sure I've used my passport at Target before and this episode was a result of a clerk who didn't know what she was doing and covered by acting like I was making the mistake.

idea of "work" at this place. Had a long talk graphic with Leah, last night. We commisserated re. money co and dissatisfaction with the whole schema of "jobs", paris hilton in general, and how, of course, we'd so much rather free porn be doing art full time, and filling our days with free game something of genuine interest and of genuine value. buying a home For me, I feel myself placing more and more importance nude on TIME, on freedom within that time, as opposed greeting card

I quite agree with you, said the Duchess; and the moral of
that is -- `Be what you would seem to be' -- or, if you'd like it put
more simply -- `Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it
might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not
otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be
otherwise.'
