I stumbled on your blog so don't know what your setup is - but if you have the space and opportunity, ducks are a riot and have tons more personality than chickens. Take 2 or 3 hand-raised female Khaki Campbells, mix with a male from calmer breed, you will get continuous entertainment and a valuable education in human (and duck) social behavior. They lay eggs as well as chickens do, plus (i think) the eggs are lower in cholesterol.
