Blanco wins

I was looking forward to Bobby Jindal's win in Louisiana. Since he was ahead in the polls by a solid 4-8% all week, I figured it was a done deal and didn't pay much attention. I wasn't prepared for my disappointment when Blanco took the race, even if she is the first woman governor of Louisiana.

I'm hoping we see Jindal again in the future. Here's his op-ed in the Wall Street Journal that illustrates what I like about him. (Hat tip: Real Clear Politics)

It was those ignorant Wal-Mart shopping toothless sister-fu%*ing redneck crackers who did Jindal in. They didn't want no colored boy as governor.

The dead vote in Louisiana, its well known.

That, and the black vote staying solid rather than crumbling a little for him, did Bobby in.

Don't forget the cracker vote. Bush will carry Louisiana with at least 10% of the vote next year. Blacks will still be 95% for the Democrat. The difference will be those redneck lifelong Democrat voters who won't vote for a Yankee Democrat for Prez. These are the redneck pickup drivers with Confed flags that Dean wants to win over.

The interesting thing is that this win will likely open up a senate seat as Breaux had been looking to retire early - but only if there was a Democrat governor in place to appoint Chris John as his handpicked successor.

Yeah, I think the polls were off since there were people in LA and in the south who won't vote for a "person of color", but won't admit that to a pollster. I hope he takes another shot, things DO change...

I wonder if Bush could have made a difference for Jindal. Jindal asked Bush to stay away, thinking it might turn off black voters. At the end of the day, Jindal got no more black votes than David Duke did. Bush could have made the difference in such a close race...

What's there to like about him?

His 'op-ed' is the same as W Bush's - all hat-talk about Christian faith and family, and nada about what he's going to do.

How can you respect that?

You don't hire someone based upon the number of degrees their mom and dad has.
