Hilary's plans?

Amid speculation that Hilary is running for President, she is denying it. What are the meetings about?

I think she is positioning to be name the VP candidate. Senator, VP, Prez. Sounds like the Hilary resume-building plan.

I'm not so sure that's what it's about. When was the last time the veep-candidate on a losing ticket went on to become president? FDR, I believe (Cox-Roosevelt ticket, 1920)

At this point in the third years of their first terms, Reagan and Clinton were both trailing in the polls against the other-party candidates who went on to be the opponent in the November election. Bush isn't trailing anybody. Not that it guarantees his re-election, but it has to affect the C*****ns' calculations.

I suspect the meetings are about dealing with intraparty rumblings about getting rid of McAuliffe, who is their guy and helps keep the party pretty much under their control.

The meetings are probably strategy sessions aimed at co-ordinating a "Draft Hillary" movement at the Democratic Convention if President Bush looks vulnerable.

As long as the Clintons are the biggest money raisers in the Dem Party Terry McAuliffe will be the chairman. Only when McAuliffe falls out of favor with the Clintons will he be relieved of his duties.
